Electrical Engineering is not only one of the important streams of engineering but it also is its principal branch. Its application of electronics on large scale in controlling and protecting electrical equipment and systems has led to a new branch in Engineering-Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Graduate Engineers in this discipline will deal with the design, analysis, testing, installation, maintenance, security and operation of power related equipment and systems, across industries. Electrical and electronics engineers are involved in a wide variety of technology ranging from huge global positioning systems which can pinpoint the location of a moving vehicle to gigantic electrical power generators.
Electrical and Electronics engineers are answerable for designing, developing, testing as well supervising the production of electrical and electronic equipment and machinery. Transmission and telecommunication systems, electric motors, controls of machinery, lights and wiring in building complexes, vehicles, aircraft, radar and navigation systems, power generation, control and transmission devices which are used by electric utilities are all examples of equipment built by these engineers. Electrical and Electronics Engineers may also find job in fields which relate to computers and IT.
Electrical and electronics engineers may choose to concentrate on various areas like power generation, transmission and supply; communications; manufacture of electrical equipment etc. or a one particular specialty within these areas; for e.g. industrial robot control systems or aviation electronics. These engineers are occupied with designing new products, writing requirements for their performance, as well as developing maintenance schedules and charts. Testing equipment and machinery, solving operation problems, estimating time and cost of electrical and electronic products also come under the job of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
EPS, electricity Board, Utility companies, Large industries in Public & Private sector, Manufacturers of large electrical machine & equipment, Renewable Energy Source Development, UPS, SMPS, HVDC, Source Design, Research establishments offer jobs for Electrical and Electronics engineers.
Electronics Engineers can find job with the following companies: UPSC, GATE, NTPC, DRDO, PGCIL, SAIL, BHEL, NPCL, NHPC, BEL, ECIL, DMRC, DVC, Electricity Board, Indian Railway, Hydro Power Plant, Thermal Power Plant, ESSAR, BOSCH, Mahindra, L&T, Vedanta, Ashok Leyland, etc.
